Kim's Occasional Journal - August 24th, 2006

Aug. 24th, 2006 10:48 am D's birthday

So it is finally my proto-husband's birthday :) and we had a little bit of things going right this morning (thank you Eris).

When I came downstairs to make the coffee (after being harrassed by Freya for an hour or so because she saw no reason why we should have a lie-in on a weekday - she's not that keen on the idea at weekends for that matter), there was a box and an envelope in the post.

The envelope was my silk samples, so I can take those and the pattern to the G and drool over them with Charlie; and the box was from the H P Lovecraft Historical Society, containing a CD of fonts and prop paperwork, and a Miskatonic University mug, which I'd forgotten about! (The invoice from the HPLHS has a little red stamp on it that says 'Paid - our shoggoths thank you' :)

So D's birthday coffee went in that, and then he got to sit up in bed and unwrap his goodies which included a rather nice mother-of-pearl & silver card case, dated c.1875, and an art nouveau/deco picture frame which I'd got reglazed with a sepia picture of the two of us at Paul and Michele's wedding. Rather self-referential and very soppy but it *is* a nice pic and he *is* a dyed-in-the-wool Romantic *smile*. Thank you ebay! Whatever did people do for presents before that? (Well actually I just used to buy half of Waterstones...)

So now we have to get up and get packed and off to Derby... The weather forecast isn't great, I have to say, but wtf, it'll be fine :)

Oh and I finished 'Hat full of Sky' last night, enjoyed it even more the second time round, can't wait for the next one!

*hugs* to all, have a good weekend whatever you're doing!

Aug. 24th, 2006 12:17 pm Hmm...

I just spent 5 minutes with the rolly squeaky thing (aka lint remover) getting cat fur off the body armour.

D'you suppose the Met have this problem?
